About the event

Do you have a student that will be at Upper St Clair High School during the 2022/2023 school year? Students have the opportunity to participate in the Robotics Club through both a competitive and non-competitive track.

Competitive students will join a USC Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team where they will work as a team to not only design, build, and program a robot but also strategize, market, educate, and so much more.  Teams will meet at least once a week after school with Mrs. Smith during the club time but will also commit to evening and weekend meetings with their parent coach as well as weekend workshops, scrimmages and competitions.  The time commitment will fluctuate throughout the year but will most likely range between 3-8 hours per week.  Competitive students would also have access to opportunities that are listed below for non-competitive students.  (There is a cost to be involved with a competitive team.)

Non-competitive students will focus more on learning about robotics and participating in outreach to educate others about robotics.  This could include attending guest speaker series, visiting local robotics companies for tours, creating and delivering various robotics workshops to our elementary and middle schools, attending FTC competitions as an observer, mentoring FLL students at the middle school, soliciting USC Robotics sponsors, and working on marketing materials such as fliers, posters, and website content. (There is no cost to be involved with the Robotics Club through a non-competitive track.)
