Boyce Middle School

After School Non-Competitive Robotics

For the 2024/2025 school year, the Boyce Middle School after school Robotics Club will be using LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Kits along with the LEGO Educations SPIKE Prime Expansion Set.  These kits include LEGO building pieces, sensors, and motors which allow students to build a robot to handle various tasks.  Coding can be completed using Scratch or Python.

JOIN THE BOYCE ROBOTICS CLUB!

For the 2024/2025 school year, there will be 4 cohorts of students for the Boyce Middle School after school, non-competitive robotics club.  Each cohort will meet once a week from 3:30 - 4:30 PM in the STEAM Design Room.  Cohorts are capped at 20 students each. One cohort is designated as a girls only cohort while the other three are open to anyone.
 

1st Semester

Monday Cohort -  September 16 - November 18 (GIRLS ONLY COHORT)

Tuesday Cohort -  September 17 - November 19
 

2nd Semester
Monday Cohort - February 3 - April 7

Tuesday Cohort - February 4 - April 8

 

To join the Boyce Middle School, after school, non-competitive robotics club you must sign up on the JOIN page for the appropriate semester and day.  Students may only sign up for one semester (one cohort) of the after school, non-competitive robotics club due to high interest.  Cost is $150 per student.

Boyce students who are looking for a more intense robotics experience can join a FIRST LEGO League Challenge team through USC Robotics.  These teams will meet for several hours a week in the evening/weekend for the first semester and are required to have a volunteer parent coach leading each team.  Please visit the the USC Robotics competitive robotics page related to FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for more information.  Cost is $200 per student.

ABOUT THE COORDINATOR

Mr. Henderson is the STEAM Design Teacher at Boyce Middle school.  With over 25 years of teaching experience, Mr. Henderson continues to inspire a generation of students to analyze, create, and refine various design projects.  Mr. Henderson was been leading the Boyce Robotics Club since 2021.
