Boyce Middle School

After School Non-Competitive Robotics

For the 2023/2024 school year, the Boyce Middle School after school Robotics Club will be using Hummingbird Robotics Kits from BirdBrain Technologies.  The Hummingbird Robotics Kit is comprised of lights, sensors, and motors which allow students to build a robot out of any materials.

The power of Hummingbird is in its flexibility - the same reusable kit can animate a poem, model the human arm, build an autonomous rover, or create a pinball machine.

For the 2023/2024 school year, there will be 4 cohorts of students for the Boyce Middle School after school, non-competitive robotics club.  Each cohort will meet once a week from 3:30 - 4:30 PM in the STEAM Design Room.  Cohorts are capped at 20 students each.

1st Semester

Monday Cohort -  September 18 - November 20

Tuesday Cohort -  September 19 - November 21

2nd Semester
Monday Cohort - February 12 - April 22

Tuesday Cohort - February 13 - April 23

To join the Boyce Middle School, after school, non-competitive robotics club you must sign up on the JOIN page for the appropriate semester and day.  Students may only sign up for one semester (one cohort) of the after school, non-competitive robotics club due to high interest.  Cost is $100 per student.

NEW FOR 2023/2024!

Boyce students who are looking for a more intense robotics experience can join a FIRST LEGO League Challenge team through USC Robotics.  These teams will meet for several hours a week in the evening/weekend for the first semester and are required to have a volunteer parent coach leading each team.  Please visit the the USC Robotics competitive robotics page related to FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for more information.  Cost is $150 per student.

Efforts are also being made to have a Boyce Summer Robotics Camp during the summer of 2024.
